How to Compact Peter (Free Up His Memory)
"Compacting" summarizes Peter's current conversation so he keeps the important context but frees up working memory. Think of it as clearing his desk without throwing away his notes. Do it when he's slowing down but still responding.
Compact or Restart? Which one
- Peter is slow but still answering → COMPACT (gentler, keeps the conversation going)
- Peter is fully stuck / not responding at all → RESTART (see If Peter Seems Stuck)
How to compact Peter (step by step)
- Open the PF portal.
- In the left sidebar, under PANELS, click "Terminal".
- That's Peter's live session. Click into the terminal window so it's active.
- Type
/compactand press Enter. - Peter summarizes his conversation and frees up his memory. Give him a moment and he'll keep right on going.
Best done when Peter is slowing down but still responding. If he's completely frozen and won't respond at all, use the Restart button instead — see If Peter Seems Stuck.
Peter handles this himself now
Peter watches his own memory and compacts on his own before big jobs, so in normal use you should not need to do anything. These steps are for the rare case where he is slowing down and nobody has restarted him yet.
Quick version: Peter slow but still talking? → Terminal panel → type
/compact → Enter. Peter fully frozen? → Restart button (see If Peter Seems Stuck).
